| Q:
What product number
is appropriate
to my car ? |
| A:
Please fill up
inquiry form. |
| Q:
Can an airbag fitted
steering be converted
? |
| A:
Yes, it could be
converted. A dummy
harness for air
back use comes
with our steering
boss hit for use
with air back.
Using a dummy harness
will disable the
air back warning
lamp. (In some
cars, the air back
warning lamp cannot
be disabled). |
| Q:
If the steering
is converted, will
it pass mandatory
inspection? |
| A:
The steering boss
is part of the
mechanism to dismount
steering and is
an important safety
device. Conforms
to car inspection
standards, hence
it supports car
inspection requirements.
For the steering
wheel, please inquire
from the steering
wheel manufacturer. |
| Q:
Can the boss be
used in cars of
the same type? |
| A:
For same car types,
if the year model,
car model and rigging
are exactly the
same, the boss
can be fitted.
If even one of
the year model,
car model and rigging
is different, it
is possible that
the configuration
of the car is different,
hence, a different
product number
may be appropriate.
(Some cars may
have different
configurations
even if the year
model, car model
and rigging are
exactly the same.
In such cases,
it may become necessary
to check the configuration
of the actual car.) |
| Q:
After fitting the
boss, the horn
does not sound
off at all. Why? |
| A:
For horn contact
plate (brass plate)
type cars, dimensional
difference, the
car side causes
the horn not to
sound off. Parts
to address the
problem are available,
however. Please
inquire from the
store of purchase.
(The part may not
be used in some
cars, however.
If so, please discontinue
fitting the boss.)
For Coupler type
cars, the horn
fuse may be busted
or the wiring is
broken. Please
consult professional
service (sales
outlet, dealer). |
| Q:

| Q:
After fitting,
the horn does not

| A:
The horn fuse may

wiring broken.

| Q:
My car is not supported
but I want the
steering converted.
What should I do? |
| A:
We manufacture

boss. Click here

| Q:
After fitting,
the air back alarm
lamp does not light
off. Why? |
A:
Please conduct
the following tests.
[For manually
inserted
dummy harness]
1. Revert to
original steering,
and check if
alarm lamp
lights off.
(If lamp does
not light off,
please consult
sales outlet
or dealer.)
2. Re-mount
the boss. Attach
the harness
firmly using
tape or other
means so it
will not be
detached. Likewise
make sure that
the fuse is
securely attached
to the dummy
harness.
3. After fitting
to the steering,
check the alarm
lamp. If lamp
does not light
off despite
the above procedure,
the lamp may
not light off
due to some
differences
in the car.
[For
SRS Coupler]
1. 1. Revert
to original
steering, and
check if alarm
lamp lights
off. (If lamp
does not light
off, please
consult sales
outlet or dealer.)
2. Remount the
boss, mount the
steering and
check alarm lamp.
If lamp does
not light off
despite the same
procedure, the
lamp may not
light off due
to some differences
in the car.
|
| Q:
After conversion,
where shall the
position of steering
be? |
| A:
This varies with
the steering wheel
design. For flat
type steering wheel,
it is almost the
same positioning
as in the original
steering. (For
some cars, a boss
spacer might be
needed.) When if
cannot be drawn
near, use a boss
spacer sold separately. |
| Q:
Can auto-cruise
function still
be used after steering
conversion? |
| A:
Yes, it can still
be used through
the use of horn
button that comes
with the steering
boss for auto-cruise
use. When using
the different horn
button, use a switch
key sold separately.
(Auto-cruise function
may not be useable
in some cars.) |
| Q:
What is the difference
between mechanical
air back and electrical
air back. |
| A:
The form is clearly
different because
air back action
is different. Electrical
air back has the
air back alarm
lamp inside the
meter. |
| Q:
Can a steering
boss for use in
air back cars be
fitted in non-air
back cars? |
| A:
No. The configurations
are completely
different. Of course,
the same is true
for the opposite
case. |
| Q:
Please tell more
about the tightening
torque for the
center nut. |
| A:
Make sure to apply
3Kg·m of tightening
torque. For details,

| Q:
Does RapFix satisfy
car inspection? |
| A:
RapFix conforms
to car inspection
standards, hence,
it satisfies car
inspection requirements. |
| Q:
When RapFix is
attached, how close
at hand is the
steering? |
| A:
The total length
of RapFix is about
60mm. It comes
closer at hand
by 60mm from the
normal boss mounting
position. Used
together with the
exclusive short
boss, it is drawn
closer to the column
side by 20mm ~
40mm, (The length
differs with product
number) |
| Q:
Is there no chatter? |
| A:
There is absolutely
no chatter when
a new article is
fitted. Even under
WRC and such harsh
conditions, there
is absolutely no
chatter. However,
product life is
determined by the
wear of contacting
parts depending
on frequency of
use. The details
on economic life
are under investigation. |
| Q;
About mainmaintainess |
| RAPFIX
was designed resting
on the premise
that dope may not
be used. Since
the foreign object
caused by grease
will influence
the life span ofthe
product. The ball
is made by steel
and cannot resist
rust perfectly.
Theproduct might
not work badly
because of the
attrition of the
ball. A way to
cope well wth this
problem is to use
parts cleaner to
clean the attrition
sediment. We also
recommend applying
dope (CR-C) only
on the ball by
cotton swab.
*Avoid applying
too much dope
on the ball and
do not apply
dope on other
parts except
the ball. |
